Calm Clarity: Transforming My Time and Goals with Mindfulness and Neurofeedback

Hi All-

This was intended to go out in April. Life happened and it didn't but the information is still relevant! Hope everyone is having a great Spring!

Unlocking Your Brain's Potential: Innovative Approaches to ADHD Optimization

In recent years, the landscape of ADHD management has witnessed remarkable advancements, particularly in the realms of neurofeedback and biohacking. These cutting-edge techniques offer promising avenues for individuals with ADHD to enhance focus, attention, and overall well-being.

If ADHD is an interest based nervous system, And we thrive when we do what we’re interested in and we’re often time blind/have a hard time accurately assessing our future state. How do we anticipate how we’re going to want to do tomorrow/next week as we try to manage our calendars and thrive. How do we really learn to understand what we want?

I don’t have a complete answer (yet), but this has emerged again as a thought exercise and various professional acquaintances, friends, and coaches have challenged me (in a nice way) to do what I want more often and not just what I think I should or committed to last week. I hate feeling flakey and so I’ve held myself to do the thing standar, even if I don’t want to do something by the time it comes up on my have-to-do list or calendar.

The one thing I do find helps me make better decisions for both my current and future self is practicing finding calm. Lately, I've been using a Muse meditation headband to help with this, and some neurofeedback from their partner Myndlift. It can look at my brain waves in real time and help me know when I am generating patterns more compatible with calmness. I am seeing changes in many areas of my life and it is a massive net benefit. Also when I’m calm, I’m able to recognize a dopamine hit and understand what I enjoy right now.

Exploring Neurofeedback and Biohacking

Neurofeedback, a form of biofeedback that measures brain waves and provides real-time feedback. By monitoring brain activity and providing cues for desired states, neurofeedback helps me regulate my attention and improve executive function skills. I am also a fan of biohacking principles, which involve leveraging technology and lifestyle interventions to optimize biological functions, (like sleep!)

By combining insights from neurofeedback with biohacking strategies, optimized sleep routines, and targeted supplementation, I’m trying to work with my body instead of against it.

Hello Reader, How is it after the middle of February already? I’m seeing ads for spring bulbs and cleaning. All this has me thinking about Spring Cleaning again. Over the years with coaching, I’ve had a lot of conversations about cleaning and maintaining spaces. A couple of things that people don’t seem to make a distinction about is that there are at least 2 phases, possibly 3. 1: decluttering is different than 2) maintaining a space. Maintaining is a combination of frequentish picking up...
